When is the 2024 NFL schedule release? Expected date comes in new report

Well, we might have to wait a little longer than we thought for the 2024 NFL schedule to be released. Although many believed the schedule could be announced as early as this Thursday, a report from Ben Fischer and reiterated by Adam Schefter, indicates that the schedule will not be revealed until next week Wednesday, May 15.
This is devastating news for NFL fans who had been clamoring for any ounce of NFL content they could get their hands on since the end of the draft just over a week ago. At the very least though, this report offers a probable date to look forward to.

NFL schedule release: Latest news and rumors
Over the last few years, the schedule has been revealed two weeks after the draft, which would mark Thursday, May 9 as the date to look out for. However, as that date inched nearer and nearer, no new information became available, which prompted some people to consider that perhaps the schedule would not follow the same pattern.

Some experts, such as ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, had expressed their belief that the schedule announcement could drop next week, but Fischer's report is the most concrete evidence we've had of that being the case.
In his article, Florio pointed out, "Next week is a big week for the TV industry, with the 'upfront' presentations in New York. Given that the league now authorizes each of the networks to announce a game or two in the days preceding the full release, it makes sense for the networks to generate maximum buzz by sharing a taste of the schedule on the day they unveil their full fall lineups."
Given the news, it seems Florio might have been onto something.
When does the NFL season start?
The NFL's 2024-25 regular season will kick off on Thursday, September 5, with the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs playing at home against an opponent that has yet to be announced. We will know their opponent when the schedules are released.
Do we know any games yet?
Yes. We know that Week 1 will feature the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Green Bay Packers. The game will be the first-ever NFL contest to be held in Brazil. It is schedule for Friday, September 6. The game will be broadcasted exclusively on Peacock, but will also be available for streaming via NFL+.
